Embracing Change and Growth

You know, starting a coaching business is a real challenge, especially when you’re learning everything from scratch.  Over the past few years I have taken so many classes that I can’t even remember half of them. I have received a wealth of advice and acquired a diverse set of skills. As I’ve progressed, I’ve become more discerning in deciding which classes to take, whose advice to listen to, and which skills to prioritize.

All of this has led me to reevaluate my website – and it is now getting a change of perspective. The website originally was focused on speaking to women with MS (a narrow audience, just like my early teachers taught me). But my heart has been telling me that I am turning away people I can genuinely help by limiting the focus to this specific group. So many people have said, “Oh, your program would be really good for my friend with fibromyalgia,” or “I know someone who’s having a midlife crisis that this program would be perfect for.” I’m not giving up my passion for helping women with MS, but  I’m making a conscious effort to create a more inclusive and welcoming website for anyone looking for the guidance and support they can find here.

Part of growing is being able to realize what you’ve done well, what needs refining, and what you goofed on. For instance, my last blog post said I was going to participate in the Ultimate Blogging Challenge. However, life had other plans, and I ended up saving the prompts for another time. I do intend to blog more regularly, but the challenge just wasn’t right for me now. I’ll call the challenge a goof, and make a plan that better suits my current needs. Similarly, I’ll call the original focus of my website something that needs refining and I’m committed to making it more inclusive for everyone.

My journey is one of constant learning and growth, and I sincerely hope I never stop challenging myself. I encourage you to do the same. Celebrate your successes and view the rest as opportunities for personal development. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some work to do on my website!

When Being Good at Something Becomes a Trap

Nobody warns you about this particular kind of stuck.

You’re not stuck because you failed. You’re not stuck because you chose wrong or took a wrong turn or missed your calling somewhere along the way. You’re stuck because you’re good at something. Really good. And the people around you have noticed, and they need you to keep being good at

The Measuring Stick That Makes Every Rest Feel Like Failure

There’s a measuring stick a lot of us grew up with, and most of us never thought to question it.

It goes something like this: your value as a person is tied to what you produce. What you achieve. What you can point to and say, I did that. The degree on the wall. The promotion. The marathon medal. The
