Taking a step on the road forward

Ok, sorry, but I’m going full out nerd on you first thing. But hang in there, there’s a good reason a few paragraphs down.

I’ve been working hard, and I think I’ve finally found a way to handle all of my life purpose information! I have files, notebooks, computer files, bookmarked websites, and actual books with highlighting in them, and I had no way to pull it all together and come up with the best information I could to pass along to you.

This past week I’ve been watching videos to learn how to use the program Obsidian – it’s a note taking program that allows you to store and sort and link your information in creative ways, including a visual graph or a mind map. Sometimes the most elegant way to present a complex idea or problem is visually, when words alone just take so much space.

I’ve also been learning how to use Notion. Notion is a workspace where you can manage all kinds of notes, tasks, projects, or databases. That’s where I can put all the information I’m organizing to work.

So why am I telling you this?

Imagine yourself to be like the jumbles of information that I’m trying to organize and put to work. You are a wonderful mixture of the gifts you were born with, talents you’ve developed, your life experiences, education, and relationships. How well you know yourself depends on how organized your data about yourself is. If you don’t take time for self-reflection then you might not know yourself as well as you think you do.

Do you like all the same things now that you did when you were 12? If someone yells at you now, do you react the same way? Are the same things important to you now that were important to you 20 years ago? And actually, do you know what is most important to you right now? Do you know what your core values are?

Leading a fulfilling life is hard if you don’t know what is fulfilling to you, right at this moment. You can go through the same motions you have gone through for years without realizing that what you are doing is no longer satisfying. Do you find yourself feeling discontented or feeling like there should be something more to life? You need to stop once in a while and make sure that you know who you are and where you want to go.

That’s what my Refinding Your Life Purpose course is all about, by the way, helping you get to know yourself again so you can figure out what will bring you joy. You probably don’t have to have my course to get to know yourself again. There are plenty of books, seminars, etc. if you just want hints in the right direction. But Refinding Your Life Purpose is like the programs Obsidian and Notion I mentioned above. I walk with you and help you organize and sort what your strengths and talents are, what your personality type is, what your most important values are, and what really matters, down at your core. Then I help set you on the road that will put your knowledge to work and make your life one of joy and purpose.

Knowing your life purpose gives you a destination to aim for. Knowing yourself allows you to make choices and decisions that are true to who you are, and that will get you on track to a joyful life. Don’t waste another minute feeling discontented, make the choice to to take that first step forward – reach out to me today!

When Being Good at Something Becomes a Trap

Nobody warns you about this particular kind of stuck.

The Measuring Stick That Makes Every Rest Feel Like Failure

There’s a measuring stick a lot of us grew up with, and most of us never thought to question it.

It goes something like this: your value as a person is tied to what you produce. What you achieve. What you can point to and say, I did that. The degree on the wall. The promotion. The marathon medal. The
